Blog 2 - Healthcare system

Dear blogger I want to tell you this story

“I woke up stunned, looking with my hand for the cell phone to turn off the alarm, look at the time: the clock strikes 5 am, I get dressed and drink a hot chocolate, leave my house and go to the nearest bus stop; go to the hospital, I get off the bus, walk a street and get to a long line of people I see the hour 6am, the wait is long, it's cold. By then it's 7am, a lady gives health care numbers when I get a medical care number, I must say I want to go to the dentist, the only hours that are available are in the afternoon, I book one of those hours of medical attention and I go home.”

It's not the first time we've heard about such a story, in fact, maybe it's not that shocking because the person has gotten medical care for the same day, but we know that this rarely happens, that sometimes they do not reach numbers or that sometimes medical care will have to be 2 or 3 months later, and the most outrageous thing is that medical attention comes when the one who needs it is in a coffin.

Health should be a guaranteed right, but here in Chile events like this became customary.

Tell me your experiences, good week:)

  1. True, more than once I heard that in the subway or on the street. For a decent health!

  2. every day we see cases like this, elderly people, children, pregnant women standing in long lines to get an hour, even the emergency system itself often collapses, unfortunately only the public sector because not everyone can opt for private health, to see it this way it seems that health is for those who can afford it...

  3. Literally this case has happened to everyone, unfortunately the public health system has some problematic waiting times and it is normal that people prefer not to be attended because of this problem.
